The Children’s Liturgy Group began following the Parish renewal of 1987. At Children’s Liturgy they aim to encourage the love of Jesus and of our neighbour. They do this through reading the gospel of the day and explaining the message to children in ways they can understand such as spoken word, song, mime, pictures and the written word, always with the contribution and full involvement of the children. They also take a special interest in children making their First Holy communion and hold three exclusive liturgies which concentrate on their preparation to receive the Eucharist. The Children’s Liturgy Team also help to organise the Children’s Carol Service (Sara Hazzledine) and the Children’s Christmas Day Mass. During 11am Mass, all children are welcome to join in. They are taken to the Upper Room for part of the Mass, where they learn about the gospel in simpler terms. The children create something to show their families. Through this the children begin to feel very much a part of the church community. For more information please contact Mary Flynn.
